North American - Documentary/Short
A Deeper God thoughtfully examines the compatibility of science and religion. Does supporting evolution conflict with a belief in God? Is there a way to reconcile the two? This film discusses evolution and religion with scientists and members of the faith community in a debate that’s more nuanced than the conventional dichotomy. With credible sources and fast-paced discourse, A Deeper God challenges the traditional view of God and offers an alternative solution to this controversy.
Global Panorama
In San Paulo, Lourenco is the owner of a second-hand shop. Little by little, he switches from a cold negotiator to one who takes unfair advantage of customers who are experiencing financial difficulties. Lourenco sees the world as a place in which people, as well as used objects, are for sale - preferably for a vile price. The diversity of people passing through his shop makes him see them as components of a great human catalogue. The cast includes representatives of new talent in Brazilian cinema such as Silvia Lourenco (Contra Todos), Alice Braga (Lower City) and Flavio Bauraqui.
